ABOUT SENDAI CITY:

Sendai is the largest city in the Tohoku region. The city has a population of one million and is one of Japan's seventeen designated cities.

The city was founded in 1600 by the Daimyo Date Masamune, and is well known by its nickname, the "City of Trees". There are about 60 zelkova trees on Jōzenji and Aoba street.

In winter, the trees are decorated with thousands of lights in an event called the Pageant of Starlight from December 12 to December 31. Many people visit Sendai to see the Pageant of Starlight.

 

The gallery was founded by Mrs. Yukiko Sakuraba when she and an investor purchased the space in 1997. Since that time, the gallery's focus has been allowing up and coming artist of all disciples show and sell their work.

The purpose of this English-language homepage is to allow contact with visitors and artist from aboard.
